Handles Dried Out. New New Handles.

Welp. The handles I made last night were bone dry. Oops. I covered them, but only lightly, and they were very much not usable. Even the pots I threw yesterday were pretty dry today too, so maybe the brown clay just dries faster?

Yes, had to start the handles entirely from scratch. The pots themselves still had some moisture, so those were fine, but I rolled out another slab and started from scratch with the handles.

Bone dry. Lesson learned.

Wide Handles

Here's the whole gang. I like how the look of the smooth borders ended up.

Attaching is hard to do. Blending it into the pot is a tricky thing, how to make that look good.

My takeaway is the less touching and trying to blend, the better. Here, you'll see just 3 little pinch points for the bottom attachment.

This one was my favorite one. Angle from the side shows how little I messed with it.

The other ones weren't so bad. Here's one where I really tried to blend it into the shape of the mug.

Hoping the glaze will be pretty forgiving in the areas where I tried to smooth out the seams.

Also, the shapes are more promising than previous attempts.

And my tool collection is growing, so that's a wonderful new development. Brought one of Swanberg's creations to the studio, to be my little jar for tools. Perfect height. Perfect width. Very pleased with the new gear. Makes me feel even more motivated. Is this how people feel when they buy new workout clothes? There's an idea...
