Large Platters

Large Platters

Throwing larger and larger things now. Delaying glazing because I just don't like that process as much as throwing and trimming. Ha. Apparently, there are very strong feelings on this, and most of the other students in my class share my glazing disdain.

But! Back to the fun stuff: large platters. Busted out the large bats for the first time and went at it. about 3.5 pounds for each of the big boys, if I'm remembering correctly. You can see how large they are, in comparison to the dinner plates that I've been throwing on the smaller bats.

The last photo is a little misleading because the dinner plate is on a bench that's lower than the table, so the platter is not that much larger. Still, these are the largest (heaviest) pieces I've thrown to date.

Can't wait for these to be ready to trim. The trick, I'm learning, is patience. Ha. Isn't that the trick to everything? And isn't that a cryin' shame that patience is definitely not my strong suit? Will take a looooooong time for these to set enough to take off the bat and trim, so I guess we'll see these in the new year.
