The Big Batch
A bunch of finished pieces finally came out of the kiln today! Super excited to start planning a little photoshoot with these beauties. The photos are coming out more high-contrast, so they look black, but the darker color is actually a deep, dark cobalt blue. (Except for the marbled pieces; those are actually black and white.)
And here's the Pretty Bowl I've been so excited about. My favorite piece from the batch, I think.
Today was super productive. I threw 5 plates: 2 salad-plate-sized and 3 dinner-plate-sized. Excited to see how they turn out. Left plenty of room for trimming, and this time, I'm going to wait longer until they set so that they don't flatten out and lose their shape like the last batch. Happy with how these rims turned out. This is more the shape I was aiming for.
Even Måns joined in on the fun and threw some pieces. Painted them with white slip and everything. Eager to see how they turn out. We're all signed up for the summer term, so I'm excited to keep practicing. After this week, there should be quite a few pieces that I can glaze. A very productive term–especially for my first time back at the wheel in 14 years.
